When I began writing, I filled what little extra time I had by attending creative writing classes, workshops, critique groups, and my local writer’s league meetings. I read how-to books on writing and dissected every novel I got my hands on. I gleaned some terrific information, but often times it all seemed so overwhelming.
I still work on honing my skills, but I’ve learned to pick and choose tidbits that get right to the point–valuable information that can be chiseled down into a few words.

Bake, Love, Write: 105 Authors Share Dessert Recipe and Advice on Love and Writing.

For instance, Lois Winston shared:
her delectable recipe for Apple Bundt Cake,
her one-word advice for a lasting, loving relationship,
and writing advice that begins with, “Every scene in your manuscript must have a purpose . . .”
