Thought you might enjoy this photo of twin whoopers W2-12 and W3-13. They hatched early last week in Wisconsin. This is their parents’, DAR (direct autumn release) 42-09 and DAR 24-09, first nesting attempt.
The Class of 2012 (chicks hatched in captivity) is growing. Below a brief update on the chicks. The first number indicates the hatching order.
Numbers 4-12, 5-12, 6-12, being the oldest, have been introduced to the engine noise of the trike.
Number 7-12 needs to gain a little more weight before he joins his older classmates.
The younger chicks are still in ICU, but doing well. Number 9-12 likes to eat with a buddy; 10-12 is a bit of a slacker; 11-12 got moved to his new pen, which he likes, and 12-12, 13-12, 14-12 are still learning to eat and drink on their own. As soon as all ten birds begin their first phase of training, I’ll post class photos. In the meantime, you can also check on their progress by going to OM’s website.
