Remember the Alamo. Not THE Alamo, but the Alamo Hotel.
When I moved to Austin in 1977, there was this infamous hotel on the corner of 6th Street Guadalupe. The Alamo Hotel had quite a reputation. Unfortunately, or fortunately, it’s no longer in existence. But before it closed Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard filmed their music video, Pancho and Lefty, at the hotel. Since my fourth Sydney Lockhart mystery, Murder at the Driskill, takes place in Austin, I was compelled to write about the Alamo Hotel as well. Sydney’s PI boyfriend, Ralph Dixon, and his PI partner, Billy Ludlow, found temporary residence there.

Read more about the Alamo Hotel and Murder at the Driskill on  CL at Large, Cyndi Pauwels’ delightful blog, which posted on November 26.
