Bake, Love, Write: 105 Authors Share Dessert Recipes and Advice on Love and Writing, edited by Lois Winston

I have a secret passion. I would love to wake up early a couple of mornings a week, report to work at a commercial bakery, and bake to my heart’s content. I don’t get the chance very often at home. It’s just my husband and me, and if I baked my favorites: pies, scones, cookies, we’d be extremely overweight. I also love concocting cooked fruit-type desserts, using pears, peaches, berries, and bananas. So, when award-winning author Lois Winston sent out a call for authors to contribute their favorite dessert recipes for an author cookbook, I responded right away. Over the years, I’ve experimented with that classic, dessert Bananas Foster. What a tasteful treat: bananas sauteed in butter, brown sugar, and a sweet liquor, poured over ice cream!
I’m pleased to have my recipe for Bananas Foster, Kaska style, included in Bake, Love, Write: 105 Authors Share Dessert and Advice on Love and Writing. My contribution also includes a second recipe: this one for a lasting, loving relationship. And for you writers, I share the best advice about writing I’ve ever received.
The cookbook is available on Kindle, The Nook Store, Kobo, and Amazon paperback (buy links below).
Here’s a sampling of some of the delights you’ll find:
Southern Tarts by Cynthia Luhrs
Christmas Divinity by Shelley Noble
Chocolate Sin by Janis Susan May
and there’s even a special dessert for our canine pals, Tasty Doggie Biscuits by Judy Baker.
What do most authors have in common, no matter what genre they write? They love desserts. Sweets sustain them through pending deadlines and take the sting out of crushing rejection letters and nasty reviews. They also often celebrate their successes—selling a book, winning a writing award, making a bestseller list, or receiving a fabulous review—with decadent indulgences. And when authors chat with each other, they often talk about their writing and their lives. Recipes. Writing. Relationships. In this cookbook 105 authors not only share their favorite recipes for fabulous cakes, pies, cookies, candy, and more, they also share the best advice they’ve ever received on writing and relationships.
