Hello Everyone,

One of the most enjoyable aspects of writing a mystery is finishing it, like crossing the finish line after running a marathon; you can’t believe you did it. Those last few sentences, the final words right before I type “The End,” are probably the most important.

Since I write a series, I have to finish with a cliffhanger, so you’ll rush out and buy the next book.

So, I decided to run another contest for those of you who are loyal Sydney Lockhart readers. I will send a print or eBook copy of Murder at the Pontchartrain to the first three who send me the correct answers to the following:

Match the following Sydney mystery titles to their last lines.

Mystery Titles:

Murder at the Arlington

Murder at the Luther

Murder at the Galvez

Murder at the Driskill

Murder at the Menger

You can click the above titles of Galvez, Driskill, and Menger to order a copy directly from the publisher. Arlington and Luther will be reissued in serial format later this year.

Last lines:

  1. I walked over and noticed she’d painted over the “Re” in the re-elect and added a new word. The sign now read, “Elect Mrs. Lynol Forgmore for Police Cheif.”
  2. We clinked glasses. I emptied mine and left. The tears began to flow. They had nothing to do with the bourbon.
  3. He threw the newspaper in the trash, and hand in hand, we strolled down the Strand.
  4. “Looks like we have some unfinished business to attend to. Loretta Dixon is my sister.”
  5. “Who’d be calling at this hour?” I asked Mealworm. She knew the call wasn’t for her, so she ignored my question. It could be my mother calling to thank me for saving her marriage, or Red Newsome, inviting me to return to the Crooked J for an encore, or, maybe . . . Lieutenant Ralph Dixon. I wasn’t willing to take the chance. Much to my cat’s annoyance, I just let the phone ring.
